Fan Haining’s Speech

Fan Haining, Deputy Director of the Xuzhou Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, extended his congratulations on the conference’s success. He emphasized that Xuzhou is the only city in the nation known as the capital of construction machinery and ranks 22nd among China’s top 100 advanced manufacturing cities. As the birthplace of Chinese tricycles, Xuzhou has always regarded the tricycle industry as a vital part of its manufacturing sector. The city has developed a complete tricycle industrial chain that includes vehicle production, component supply, research and development, innovation, sales, services, and logistics. In recent years, Xuzhou has continuously promoted technological innovation and industrial upgrading in the tricycle sector, focusing on high-end, intelligent, and green development. The new energy electric tricycle industry has become a bright emblem of Xuzhou’s industrial landscape, with more than 1,000 enterprises producing electric vehicles and components and an annual production capacity exceeding 5 million vehicles. The city’s tricycle market covers all provinces and counties in China, and its overseas business reaches over 130 countries. The hosting of this grand event in Xuzhou not only provides a platform for tricycle enterprises across the country to exchange and collaborate but also brings new opportunities and directions for the development of Xuzhou’s tricycle industry. He expressed the hope that all leaders, experts, scholars, and entrepreneurs would offer valuable advice to contribute to the development of Xuzhou’s tricycle industry, jointly writing a new chapter in the development of China’s tricycle sector.

Ma Zifeng’s Speech

Ma Zifeng, Chief Scientist of Zhejiang NaChuang and Distinguished Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, delivered a speech as a representative of the sodium-ion battery field. He began by sharing his 30 years of experience in battery research and reviewed the development history of electric vehicle batteries, from lead-acid to lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries. He pointed out that although both lithium-ion and sodium-ion batteries operate on the same “rocking chair” power generation principle, sodium-ion batteries are more cost-effective, offer superior low-temperature performance, and have significant strategic importance in balancing global energy resources. He predicted that sodium-ion batteries have enormous growth potential. In 2023, Huaihai Holding Group and BYD formed a joint venture to establish Huaihai Fudi Sodium Battery Technology Co., Ltd., a milestone in the development of sodium-ion batteries in China. Ma predicted that sodium-ion batteries, due to their cost-effectiveness, stability, and potential to replace lithium-ion batteries, will become the future trend in electric vehicle batteries.

Duan Baomin’s Speech

Duan Baomin, Vice President of the China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce, congratulated the subcommittee on its successful second general assembly. He praised the committee’s work over the past few years and expressed high expectations for the newly elected leadership. He noted that with the deepening of China’s rural revitalization strategy, the ongoing consumption upgrades, the growing recognition of the role and road rights of tricycles in major cities, and the continuous expansion of export markets, the tricycle industry will face broader development prospects. Moreover, with the rapid development of new energy vehicle technology, hydrogen-powered, solar-powered, and sodium-ion battery tricycles are poised to capture significant market opportunities.

You Jianjun’s Report on the First Council’s Work

The conference reviewed and unanimously passed the work report of the first council of the Tricycle Subcommittee. The report highlighted the subcommittee’s efforts to promote the industry’s development since its establishment in June 2021. Guided by the China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce and with the support of society at large, the subcommittee has actively facilitated international market expansion and corporate transformation. New technology inventions, product developments, and the application of new materials and processes have yielded fruitful results, with the industry’s internal momentum continuing to strengthen. The tricycle industry has maintained a steady growth trajectory, with tricycles now playing an essential role in urban transportation, recreational activities, logistics, and short-distance commuting, in addition to their traditional use in rural areas.

In accordance with the constitution of the China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce and the working rules of the Tricycle Subcommittee, the conference elected the new leadership of the Tricycle Subcommittee. An Jiwen was elected as President, while Guan Yanqing, Li Ping, Liu Jinglong, Zhang Shuaipeng, Gao Liubin, Wang Jianbin, Wang Xishun, Jiang Bo, and Wang Guoliang were elected as Vice Presidents. An Jiwen’s Speech

Newly elected President An Jiwen expressed his gratitude for the trust placed in him by the leadership and member units and delivered a speech titled “Developing New Productive Forces and Energizing the Industry.” He emphasized that the global economic situation this year has been highly complex, with numerous destabilizing factors impacting economic development. The tricycle industry must, therefore, focus on fostering new productive forces, systematically drive creativity and innovation, and strengthen industrial resilience to provide consumers with high-quality and cost-effective products.

An Jiwen proposed five key initiatives for the industry’s future development:
1. Innovating organizational models to strengthen service awareness, gather industry wisdom, and enhance government-enterprise communication for high-quality coordinated growth;
2. Leading and shaping new industry trends by advocating corporate value-driven operations and promoting safe and standardized use among customers;
3. Innovating production processes by integrating digital intelligence and lean manufacturing to drive industry transformation and green development;
4. Innovating power integration systems by seizing the revolutionary opportunities presented by sodium-ion technology to lead new energy development in the industry;
5. Innovating global expansion models by promoting the localization of Chinese industrial manufacturing worldwide to advance the industry’s international development.

An Jiweng stated that the association will use the successful convening of this conference as an opportunity to focus on advancing “new industry dynamics, accelerating industry development, improving product quality, and enhancing enterprise efficiency,” and to establish a new pattern of high-quality development for the industry. He hopes that member companies will work together to build dreams, continue to pay attention to and support the association’s work, contribute ideas, and make practical efforts for the industry’s development. He also hopes that the entire industry will join forces, deeply understand the connotations and development paths of new productivity, unite and strive for innovative development, and create a shared, win-win future. By focusing on “new” and “quality,” the industry aims to stimulate new momentum for the development of tricycles and achieve stable and progressive high-quality growth.
